Who knows a sure-fire method to sleep? I’m struggling!

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz the last two days I have been going to bed and then still being awake come stupid-o’clock in the morning!  I’d almost have been as good staying up all night. 😦

Tonight, I actually feel tired while writing, so it will be short and sweet.

Running has been going super, 21min for my 3miles both yesterday and today, feeling really easy, and moving well.  I’m even breaking strava records on my route, so thinking it’s time to start expanding my net of where I run, so I can be the Strava king of running around my area.  Everyone needs a goal right??

Yesterday a few of us viewed a great venue for our graduation ball, a few viewed one today, I’m at another tomorrow, and there are two others in the running as well.  It’s exciting doing the background work for our final ever University shindig!!

I’ve had a new clinical and sports biomechanics class started too, and they have already given us a 5000 word essay on measuring devices for research studies into biomechanics……that’s a lot of words for not a lot of credits!  plus there will be another 5000word essay due for week 8. 😦

Today was also velodrome day, and we were doing some training on team pursuit, therefore it was all about staying together as a team of 4, and switching at the bends.  It’s great fun, and a couple of the guys in our group weren’t as strong, so was well within my limits which was nice. 🙂

How much is too much?

I guess the answer comes with the adage, how much can you do?

Today, I managed my best day of exercise for the year.  I roped myself into a research test for a friend, which simply involves running 3km one day while listening to music, and running 3km a different day, around the same route, without listening to music.  HR is taken at the end as well.  So I got up late today, after not sleeping at all well last night, and had to bust my butt cycling into uni, into a strong headwind, without any toast or anything.  As soon as I got in, I changed quickly, and then went to do my first 3km “test”.  Nothing hard, just jog 3k which we know I can do by now! haha  I did it without music, but felt the wind at the start really made me work as I ran up the slight hill.  Anyway, it was a two lap run, and I really didn’t feel like I was trying hard….an RPE of maybe 14, which is high level of easy.  And the only reason it felt that high was because of the wind.  Imagine my shock when I finished, and my HR was 172!  I put it down to being late up and not eating, as well as rushing to get in.  Anyway, I went about my day, went to a new class (Prosthetics and Orthotics, which looks interesting, but might take up a bit too much time for my liking) before sitting down and starting to collate my Research Dissertation.

I left uni with a friend at just after 6pm, and the wind was predominantly behind us, which was lovely!  I ended up recording some pretty decent times on my Strave route, moving me right up the leaderboards….that was a nice bonus.

I then picked up my bike tool kit that I lent to a friend round the corner, before coming in, changing, and heading around my 3mile loop.  21minutes.  For my 4th exercise of the day, I was hap-hap-happy.  I do feel a little tired just now, hence about to head to bed, and it’s only just turning 9pm.  But sleep is necessary for the body to recover adequately, and I didn’t sleep well last night.

Tomorrow I have more of the same…cycle to uni, research 3km “test” this time with music, cycle home, and hopefully another 3mile in the evening.  I also have another new class to attend, and also go look at a possible venue for our Uni Dept Graduation Dinner/Dance.  Busy day, along with my dissertation collation, so I will be up sharp to head in for some initial work.

Running Late….Could Go A Latte Too!

Very quiet and uneventful day today.  I did my run late on, like 9:15pm, and decided to run easy down the first mile, and see if i could maintain the pace coming back up. Note: I don’t clock watch when running unless I’m doing efforts.  Right now, I’m using STRAVA on my phone, which is a running and cycling app which plots where you run, and compares your times over certain sections compared to other people using the STRAVA system (you can also upload from your Garmin onto it too).  So I put my phone on, put it in my pocket, and just run.  It’s good because you truly just run how you feel. 🙂

So I managed to go round the loop in 15:05, running the first mile in 7:00, and the second back up in 7:04.  Happy enough with that, and also happy that I’m starting to have no aches in the quads anymore.  Whenever I start running after a bit of time off, I always get sore quads from the impact.  Thankfully I noticed today that I had no aches, so during the next few days, I’ll start to do a few 3mile runs, and hope that the aches stay away. 🙂

Ps: That’s seven days in a row of running!  Before I know it I’ll be in double figures. 🙂
